P1 Planetary Carrier Assembly Inspection

  1. Check end play between P1 planetary carrier and a thrust washer at each pinion gear, using a feeler gauge. See Fig 1. Compare measurements to specifications. See PLANETARY GEAR MODULE SPECIFICATIONS  table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If end play is not within specifications, replace P1 planetary carrier assembly.
  2. Inspect bushing for wear or damage. Measure inside diameter of bushing (dimension "A"). See Fig 1. Compare measurements to specifications. See PLANETARY GEAR MODULE SPECIFICATIONS  table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If bushing inside diameter is not within specification, replace bushing.
