Ground Sleeve Replacement

NOTE:
Ground sleeve bearing must be removed to replace ground sleeve. If ground sleeve and bearing are both being replaced, remove bearing, replace ground sleeve, then install NEW bearing.
- Position front support so it is supported by wooden blocks and the ground sleeve is downward. Install short end of Ground Sleeve Remover/Installer (J-43765-2) or equivalent, into rear bore of front support. See Fig 1. Press ground sleeve from front support and remove.
- To install, turn front support over. Align ground sleeve so sleeve is centered over front support, and rear of sleeve is facing downward. Rotate ground sleeve until lowest (and smallest) hole on ground sleeve is aligned with fluid passage hole.
- Gently tap ground sleeve into front support until front support holds the ground sleeve in a vertical position.
- Align Ground Sleeve Installer Ring (J-43765-1) or equivalent, so lip on the installer is downward and position on the ground sleeve. Holding installer ring in place, turn the front support/ground sleeve over (sleeve downward) and press into place with Installer Sleeve (J-43765-3) or equivalent. See Fig 2.
- Check Total Indicated Runout (TIR) of ground sleeve by positioning front support into a lathe, holding front support by outside diameter ("D"). See Fig 3. Ensure front surface ("C") of front support is square with outside diameter of front support ("D"). Check TIR along ground sleeve axis ("B") at ground sleeve pitch diameter ("A"). TIR must not exceed .008" (.20 mm).
- If the needle bearing is not being replaced, install the original bearing. See GROUND SLEEVE BEARING REPLACEMENT .
