Ground Sleeve Bearing Replacement

NOTE:
Ground sleeve bearing must be removed to replace ground sleeve. If ground sleeve and bearing are both being replaced, remove bearing, replace ground sleeve, then install NEW bearing.
- Position front support on wooden blocks with ground sleeve in downward position. Install Front Support Needle Bearing Remover (J-26941) or equivalent, into bearing, so tangs of the tool hold bottom edge of needle bearing race. See Fig 1. Tighten tool screw until finger-tight. Install a slide hammer onto end of the tool and remove needle bearing.NOTE: If ground sleeve is also being replaced at this time, replace ground sleeve before continuing with installation of NEW needle bearing. - Install Front Support Needle Bearing Installer (J-43775) or equivalent, onto Universal Driver (J-8092) or equivalent. Position NEW needle bearing onto installer tool and drive into front support until tool seats. Ensure bearing is flush to .010" (.25 mm) below ground sleeve surface.
