WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2002 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Ground sleeve bushing and bearing are replaced with ground sleeve installed in the front support. Ground sleeve should only be pressed from front support if the ground sleeve is being replaced. The NEW ground sleeve is provided with a pre-installed bushing. The bearing must be removed to replace the ground sleeve. If ground sleeve and bearing are both being replaced, replace ground sleeve first. See Figure.
- Inspect ground sleeve splines for damage or wear. No visible wear is allowed. If visible wear is present, replace ground sleeve.
- Measure inside diameter of ground sleeve at the turbine shaft seal ring bore (dimension "A"). See Fig 1. Compare measurement to specifications. See FRONT SUPPORT & MAIN PUMP MODULE SPECIFICATIONS table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. Measure inside diameter of ground sleeve bushing (dimension "B"). Compare measurement to specifications. If specifications are exceeded, replace ground sleeve and bushing assembly.
