Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 3:  Tests for an open ajar switch.
  2. 4:  Tests for an open in an endgate ajar switch signal circuit or endgate ajar switch low reference circuit.

1 Did you perform the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Body Rear End

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Open the endgate.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the appropriate ajar switch parameter in the endgate module data list.
Does the scan tool display Ajar?		 Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the appropriate endgate latch harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the endgate ajar switch signal circuit and the endgate ajar switch low reference circuit of the appropriate endgate latch harness connector.
Does the test lamp illuminate?		 Go to Step 6  Go to Step 4 
4  Connect a test lamp between the endgate ajar switch signal circuit of the appropriate endgate latch harness connector and a good ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate?		 Go to Step 8  Go to Step 5 
5 Test the appropriate endgate ajar switch signal circuit for an open. Refer toCircuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 11  Go to Step 7 
6 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the appropriate endgate latch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 11  Go to Step 9 
7 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the endgate module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 11  Go to Step 10 
8 Repair the open in the endgate ajar switch low reference circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 11  -
9 Replace the appropriate endgate latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Endgate Right Upper  or Latch Replacement - Endgate Left Lower  .
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 11  -
10
  1. Perform the endgate window learn procedure. Refer to Window Learn Cycle - Endgate 
  2. Replace the endgate module. Refer to Module Rear Body Control Replacement - Endgate  .
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 11  -

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does the DTC reset?		 Go to Step 2  System OK
