Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Battery.
  2. Remove the left rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR QUARTER LOWER in Interior Trim.
  3. Open the left sliding door 1/3 of the way.
  4. Support the bottom of the left sliding door.
  5. Remove the center roller bracket pin. Separate the center roller bracket, body side, from the center roller bracket, door side.
  6. Position the bottom of the sliding door out at the rear in order to provide access to the center roller bracket, body side.

  7. Position the sliding door center roller bracket, body side, at the front of the center roller track.
  8. Release the cable tension Refer to CABLE TENSION ADJUSTMENT - SLIDING DOOR (REGULAR METHOD)  or CABLE TENSION ADJUSTMENT - SLIDING DOOR (ALTERNATE METHOD)  or CABLE TENSION ADJUSTMENT - SLIDING DOOR (WITH RPO E59)  .
  9. Lift the center roller bracket, body side, up and out from the front radius of the sliding door center track.
  10. Detach the cable ends from the sliding door center roller bracket, body side.
  11. Remove the sliding door center track cover. Refer to CENTER TRACK COVER REPLACEMENT - SLIDING DOOR  .

  12. Slide the cable guide bracket pulley cover off of the pulley.
  13. Lift the rear cable off of the cable guide bracket pulley.
  14. Remove the cable guide bracket pulley screws.
  15. Remove the cable guide bracket pulley from the vehicle.

    NOTE: Use care when feeding cables to and from the center track and body to avoid damage to the coated cables and the vehicle's painted surface.
  16. Remove the rear cable from the opening at the rear of the sliding door track.
  17. Rotate the rear cable housing 90 degrees in order to unlock the rear cable housing from the body.
  18. Remove the rear air distribution ducts if equipped. Refer to AIR DISTRIBUTION DUCTS REPLACEMENT - AUXILIARY in Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning.
  19. Remove the front pulley bolts.
  20. Remove the front pulley from the left front inner quarter panel.
  21. Disconnect the electrical harness from the power sliding door actuator control module.
  22. Remove the motor clutch assembly nuts.
  23. Remove the motor clutch assembly bolts.
  24. Carefully remove the motor clutch assembly from the vehicle.
