Preliminary Procedure

  1. Before using SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYMPTOM INDEX, perform appropriate diagnostic system check in order to verify that there are no DTCs set and that module(s) can communicate via serial data link. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  and/or INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Review system description and operation in order to familiarize yourself with system functions. See AUDIBLE WARNINGS  , DISPLAYS & GAUGES  , DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER  and/or INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION.
  3. Perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLESHOOTING. Faulty electrical connections or wiring may cause intermittent conditions. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  . After performing preceding procedures, if problem still exists, diagnose problem by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYMPTOM INDEX.
