RTD Diagnostic System Check (

NOTE: Lack of communication may be due to a partial malfunction of class 2 serial data circuit or to a total malfunction of class 2 serial data circuit. The specified procedure will determine particular condition.
  1. Install scan tool. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  2. Turn ignition on. Attempt communication with Real Time Damping system (RTD). If scan tool communicates with RTD, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with RTD, go to appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  3. Select RTD display DTC function on scan tool. If scan tool displays DTCs, go to next step. If no DTCs are present, fault may be mechanical in nature. See appropriate FRONT or REAR article.
  4. If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with a "U", go to appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If no DTCs with "U" are displayed. go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  table.
