Test A: Content Theft Deterrent Alarm Mode Inoperative
- If vehicle theft deterrent diagnostic system test has been performed, go to next step. If vehicle theft deterrent diagnostic system test has not been performed, go to VEHICLE THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Open driver and passenger windows. Unlock doors using power door lock switch or Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. Remove keys from ignition. Open driver door. Observe courtesy lights. If courtesy lights illuminate, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not illuminate, repair door jamb switch circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAM in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
- Open driver and passenger windows. Unlock doors using power door lock switch or RKE transmitter. Remove keys from ignition. Open driver door. Observe SECURITY indicator light. If SECURITY indicator flashes, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator does not flash, go to TEST B: SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT INOPERATIVE .
- Lock vehicle using power door lock switches or RKE transmitter. Observe SECURITY indicator light. If SECURITY indicator light change from flashing to illuminated steady, go to step 5 . If SECURITY indicator light does not change from flashing to illuminated steady, go to TEST B: PASSENGER POWER DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE WITHOUT REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY or TEST C: POWER DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE WITH REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY under SYMPTOM TESTS in appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article. For 2002, go to go to TEST B: PASSENGER POWER DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE WITHOUT REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY or TEST C: PASSENGER POWER DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE WITH REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY under SYMPTOM TESTS in appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article.
- Close all doors. Observe SECURITY indicator light. If SECURITY indicator light begins to flash slowly in approximately 30 seconds, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator light does not begin to flash slowly in approximately 30 seconds, repair door jamb switch circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAM in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
- Reach into vehicle and unlock driver door manually. Open driver door. If all alarm mode functions activate (parking lights flash and horn pulses), go to next step. If all alarm mode functions do not activate, go to step 8 .
- Disarm Content Theft Deterrent system by using RKE transmitter. If all alarm mode functions stop, perform this procedure while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause malfunction to appear. If all alarm mode functions do not stop, repair door jamb switch circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAM in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
- If any alarm functions activate, go to next step. If alarm functions do not activate, repair door jamb circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAM in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
- If horns pulse only, go to TEST C: LIGHTS INOPERATIVE IN CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT ALARM MODE . If horns do not pulse, go to TEST D: HORN INOPERATIVE IN CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT ALARM MODE .
NOTE:
Ensure all doors are closed. Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system will not arm itself without all doors being closed.
