Driver Information System Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, repair fault with class 2 data communications network. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Attempt to establish communications with Driver Information Display (DID). If scan tool communicates with DID, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with DID, diagnose concern with module communications network. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article.
  3. Select DID DTC display on scan tool. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, diagnose by symptoms present. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step.
  4. If any DTC present begins with a "U", repair fault with module communications network before proceeding with any other diagnostic procedure. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article. If any DID fault messages are present, go to appropriate procedure under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS for each DTC displayed. See DRIVER INFORMATION DISPLAY (DID) DTC INDEX  table.
