Test R: Key-In-Ignition Chime Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect multifunction alarm module 8-pin harness connector. Multifunction alarm module is located behind instrument panel, above blower motor. Ensure key is in ignition switch. Open driver-side door. Using test light connected to battery voltage, probe multifunction alarm module harness connector terminal C1 (Light Green wire). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step  6 .
  2. Disconnect in-line 48-pin harness connector C201. In-line harness connector is located behind instrument panel, to right of steering column. Using test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe in-line harness C201 terminal A9 (Tan wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Measure resistance in Light Green wire between multifunction alarm module harness connector terminal C1 and in-line harness connector C201 terminal A8. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step  7 . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  8 .
  4. Measure resistance in Tan wire between in-line harness connector C201 terminal A9 and left front door lock harness connector terminal "C". If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  9 .
  5. Measure resistance between ground and left front door lock harness connector terminal "D" (Black wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step  10 . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  11 .
  6. Check multifunction alarm module harness connector terminals for poor connection. Repair or replace multifunction alarm module terminals as needed. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  7. Check in-line harness connector C201 terminals for poor connection. If connections are okay, replace ignition key warning switch. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  8. Repair open in Light Green wire between ignition switch and multifunction alarm module. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  9. Repair open in Tan wire between ignition switch and left front door lock. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  10. Inspect left front door lock switch harness connector for poor connection. If connector is okay, replace left front door lock switch. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  11. Repair open in Black wire between left front door lock and ground. Ground point is located under instrument panel, mounted to right side of brake pedal bracket. After repairs, go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reconnect all connectors and reinstall components that were removed. Perform audible warnings system check. See AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
