Installation Procedure

  1. GM3707163

    Install the fuel injection fuel rail noise shield-lower (1).

  2. GM2202034

    Ensure the cylinder head locating pins are securely mounted in the cylinder block deck face.

  3. Cylinder Head Gasket (1) - Install NEW
  4. GM2202033

    Align the right cylinder head (3) with the deck face locating pins and install.

  5. Cylinder Head Bolt (1) - Install NEW and hand tighten [8x]
  6. Cylinder Head Bolt (2) - Install NEW and hand tighten
    7. CAUTION:

    Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .

  7. Cylinder Head Bolt (1, 2) - Tighten in sequence - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  9. Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger (1) - Remove

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Turbocharger Bolt (1) - Install and tighten in sequence [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed Pipe (3) @ Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger - Install

  12. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  13. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Install NEW [2x]

  15. Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe (1) - Install

    NOTE:

    Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

  17. GM5875574
    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe (4) - Install

  18. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Washer (3) - Install NEW [2x]
  19. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  20. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Fitting Clip (1) - Install
  21. GM5873812

    Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe (3) - Install

  22. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  23. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Retaining Clip (1) - Install

  25. GM5876059

    Turbocharger Heat Shield (1) - Install

  26. GM5873866

    Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  27. GM5876046

    Engine Front Cover (1) - Install - Engine Front Cover Removal and Installation

  28. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
