Installation Procedure
- NOTE:
Ensure that the rear suspension cradle is securely attached to the jack/support stand.
Rear Suspension Cradle (1) - Install
Install the 2 CH-51034 - A Cradle Alignment Pins (1) to align the rear cradle to the body.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .
Rear Suspension Cradle Rear Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Temporarily install the 2 OLD rear cradle front bolts.
- Remove the 2 CH-51034 - A Cradle Alignment Pins (1) from the rear cradle.
- Remove the lift table from under the rear suspension cradle.

Rear Suspension Bracket- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
- Rear Suspension Bracket Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
Install the chassis wiring harness retainer (1) to the underbody air front deflector stud.
- Install the chassis wiring harness channel (2) to the 2 body studs.
- NOTE:
Some components not shown for graphic clarity.
Connect the 2 body wiring harness electrical connectors (1) to the chassis wiring harness electrical connectors.
Place the jack stand (1) under the rear differential carrier for support.

Position the block of wood (1) and the suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the right side.
- NOTE:

- DO NOT raise the vehicle higher than necessary.
Using the block of wood and the suitable jack stand (1), raise the vehicle just enough to reposition the hoist pad (2) from under the vehicle.
Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove and DISCARD
- NOTE:

Rear Suspension Bracket- Right Side (2) - Install
- Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Right Side (3) - Install NEW and hand tighten
- Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Right Side (4) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt (3)- Right Side - Tighten - Fastener Specifications
DO NOT ATTEMPT OTHER REPAIRS WITH JACK STANDS IN PLACE.
- NOTE:

Reposition the hoist lift pad (2) back underneath the right side of the vehicle.
- Using the jack stand (1) and the block of wood, slowly lower the vehicle back on the hoist pad (2).
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Remove the jack stand (2) and the block of wood (1) from underneath the right side of vehicle.
Position the block of wood (1) and the suitable jack stand (2) between the frame of the vehicle and the rear suspension bracket on the left side.
- NOTE:
DO NOT raise the vehicle higher than necessary.
Using the block of wood and the suitable jack stand (1), raise the vehicle just enough to reposition the hoist pad (2) from under the vehicle.
Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove and DISCARD
Rear Suspension Bracket- Front- Left Side (2) - Install
- Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Left Side (3) - Install NEW and hand tighten
- Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Left Side (4) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Rear Suspension Bracket Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Rear Suspension Cradle Front Bolt- Left Side (3) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications
DO NOT ATTEMPT OTHER REPAIRS WITH JACK STANDS IN PLACE.
Reposition the hoist lift pad (2) back underneath the vehicle.
- Using the jack stand (1) and the block of wood, slowly lower the vehicle back on the hoist pad (2).
Remove the jack stand (2) and the block of wood (1) from underneath the right side of vehicle.
Remove the jack stand (1) from the rear differential carrier.

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
- NOTE:

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install NEW [2x]
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Washer- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Inner Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and hand tighten [2x]
- NOTE:
- Left side shown, right side similar.
- Correctly orient the rear coil spring as noted upon removal of the rear suspension lower control arm.
Rear Coil Spring- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
- Support the rear suspension lower control arms (2) with an appropriate jack stands.
- Slowly lower the vehicle to apply tension on the rear coil springs (1) and rotate the rear suspension lower control arms (2) and align the rear suspension lower control arms (2) with the rear suspension knuckles.
- NOTE:

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install NEW [2x]
- Using the jack stands, raise the rear lower control arms enough to aid in the installation of the of the rear suspension lower control arm outer bolts.
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- NOTE:

Rear Shock Absorber Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) @ Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm (3) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Remove the jack stands from beneath the rear suspension lower control arms.
- NOTE:

Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
- Install the 8 left and right side rear spring pins (1).
- NOTE:

Rear Brake Caliper- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
- If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
- Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

Parking Brake Caliper- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
- Parking Brake BoltLeft side shown, right side similar. (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
- Connect the left and right side parking brake actuator electrical connectors.
Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Inlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe - Install
Retaining Clip (1) - Engage
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) - Install [2x]
Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe - Install
- Retaining Clip (3) - Engage
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) - Install [2x]
Position the propeller shaft (1) in the vehicle.
If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation.
- Install the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1) and tighten. Fastener Specifications
Align the reference mark (3) between the propeller shaft flange (1) and the rear axle pinion flange (2).
If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation.
- Install the 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1) and the 3 rear propeller shaft nuts (2).
- Tighten the 3 the rear propeller shaft bolts (1). Fastener Specifications
Align the reference mark (2) between the propeller shaft flange (3) and the output flange (1) of the transmission.
If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation.
- Install the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (2) and the 3 front propeller shaft nuts (1).
- Tighten the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (1). Fastener Specifications
Transmission Mount (2) - Install
- Transmission Mount Bolt (1) - Loosely install [2x]
Transmission Mount Bracket Bolt (1) - Loosely install [4x]
Transmission Mount Bolt (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Transmission Mount Bracket Bolt (1) - Tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
- Remove the jack stand.
Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement (2) - Install
- Floor Panel Number 2 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
Exhaust Intermediate Underbody Heat Shield (2) - Install
- Exhaust Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Install NEW
- With the aid of an assistant, install the exhaust muffler (1).
Exhaust Muffler Hanger Bracket Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
Electrical Connector (1) - Connect
Electrical Connector (1) - Connect
Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Left Side (2) - Install [2x]
Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Floor Panel Reinforcement (2) - Install
- Floor Panel Number 4 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications
Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Install
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt- Left Side (3) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications
Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Install
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt- Right Side (3) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Front Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications
Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Install
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Install
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
- Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
- Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
- Slowly release the brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 119 - 120 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
- Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the maximum-full level with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
- Calibrate the park brake.
- Block the drive wheels.
- Install a scan tool to the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position with the engine OFF.
- Select Configuration/Reset Functions from the Brake System Control Module.
- If available, perform the Parking Brake Calibration Procedure.
- If Park Brake Calibration is not available, proceed back and select Control Functions.
- Perform the Deactivate Rear Park Brake Service Position function.
- Apply and release the park brakes using the park brake switch to ensure that the system is functioning.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
- Perform wheel alignment. Wheel Alignment Measurement
Refer to Fastener Caution .
The final torque on the rear suspension lower control arm inner nut (1) is to be applied during the rear camber setting procedure.
For proper bolt alignment, loosely install all mount bolts prior to tightening to specifications.
