2	Close the rear compartment. Is the trunk ajar message displayed?	Go to Step 3	Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections
3	Install a scan tool. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Close the rear compartment. With a scan tool observe the trunk ajar switch signal input in the body control module (BCM) data list. Does the scan tool indicate the trunk ajar switch signal is active?	Go to Step 4	Go to Step 7
4	Disconnect the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. Is the trunk ajar message displayed?	Go to Step 5	Go to Step 6
5	Inspect for a short to ground in the trunk ajar switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs . Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 10	Go to Step 9
6	Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs . Did you find and correct the condition?	Go to Step 10	Go to Step 8
7	Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup and programming. Did you complete the repair?	Go to Step 10	-
8	Replace the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Pulldown Switch Replacement . Did you complete the repair?	Go to Step 10	-
9	Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup and programming. Did you complete the replacement?	Go to Step 10	-
10	Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition?	System OK	Go to Step 3
