DTC C0657 Or C0658: Level Control Compressor Circuit Malfunction: Notes

  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Install scan tool. Turn ignition switch on. Using scan tool, command ALC Relay ON and OFF. If ALC relay turns on and off with each command, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If ALC relay does not turn on and off with each command, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect ALC relay harness connector. Turn ignition switch on. Using a test light connected to a good ground, probe coil side feed circuit of ALC relay harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  4. Connect test light between ALC relay coil feed side and control circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Using scan tool, command ALC relay on and off. If test light turns on and off with each command, Go to step  8 . If test light does not turn on and off with each command, go to next step.
  5. If test light remained illuminated with each on and off command, go to step 7 . If test light did not remain on with each on and off command, go to next step.
  6. Check ALC relay control circuit for an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If an open was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If an open was not found, go to step  9 .
  7. Check ALC relay control circuit for a short to ground. If a short to ground was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If a short to ground was not found, go to step  9 .
  8. Check ALC relay harness connector for a poor connection. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step  11 .
  9. Check suspension control module harness connector for a poor connection. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step  12 .
  10. Repair ALC relay coil side feed circuit. If circuit repair is complete, go to step  13 .
  11. Replace ALC relay. If replacement is complete, go to step  13 .
  12. Replace suspension control module. See ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Calibrate NEW control module. See CALIBRATING ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE  under ADJUSTMENTS. If replacement is complete, go to next step.
  13. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle under normal driving conditions. If DTC resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
