DTC C0635, C0638, C0640, Co643, C1252 Or C1253: Normal Force Circuit Malfunction (2001 Models)
- Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Start engine. Using scan tool, observe front normal force parameter in Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES)/CVRSS data list. If scan tool display is within 10-90%, check for intermittent and poor connections. See NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If scan tool display is not within 10-90%, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect suspension control module harness connector. Turn ignition switch on. Measure voltage between ground and normal force signal circuit (White or Gray wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is near 12 volts, go to step 5 . If voltage is less than 12 volts, go to next step.
- Check normal force signal circuit for a short to ground, high resistance, or an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If condition was found and repaired, go to step 10 . If condition was not found, go to step 6 .
- Check normal force signal circuit for a short to voltage. If a short to voltage was found and repaired, go to step 10 . If a short to voltage was not found, go to step 7 .
- Check EBCM harness connector for a poor connection. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step 10 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step 8 .
- Check suspension control module harness connector for a poor connection. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step 10 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step 9 .
- Replace EBCM. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article. If replacement is complete, go to step 10 .
- Replace suspension control module. See ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Calibrate NEW control module. See CALIBRATING ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS. If replacement is complete, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle under normal driving conditions. If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
