DTC C0615, C0620, C0625 Or C0630: Position Sensor Malfunction
- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Turn ignition switch on. Using scan tool, observe suspect Position Sensor data parameter in Control Module data list. If scan tool indicates position sensor data parameter is within the specified range of 0.35-4.75 volts, this DTC may be set because DTC C0695 or C0696 is set. If this is the case, DTC C0695 or C0696 must be diagnosed first. If scan tool indicates position sensor data parameter is not within range, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect suspect position sensor harness connector. Turn ignition switch on. Using scan tool, observe position sensor data parameter. If scan tool indicates position sensor data parameter is less than 0.35 volts, go to next step. If scan tool indicates position sensor data parameter is more than 0.35 volts, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch off. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between position sensor low voltage reference circuit and signal circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition switch on. Using scan tool, observe position sensor data parameter. If scan tool indicates position sensor data parameter is more than 4.75 volts, go to next step. If scan tool indicates position sensor data parameter is less than 4.75 volts, go to step 8 .
- Remove fused jumper wire. Measure voltage between position sensor low voltage reference circuit and ground circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than 8 volts, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Using a DVOM, measure resistance from position sensor ground circuit to a good ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 12 . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 11 .
- Check position sensor low voltage reference circuit for a short to voltage. If a short to voltage was found and repaired, go to step 16 . If a short to voltage was not found, go to step 13 .
- Check position sensor low voltage reference circuit for a short to ground, high resistance, or an open. If condition was found and repaired, go to step 16 . If condition was not found, go to next step.
- Check position sensor signal circuit for a short to ground, high resistance, or an open. If condition was found and repaired, go to step 16 . If condition was not found, go to step 13 .
- Check position sensor signal circuit for a short to voltage. If a short to voltage was found and repaired, go to step 16 . If a short to voltage was not found, go to step 13 .
- Disconnect control module harness connector. Check position sensor ground circuit for an open or high resistance. If an open or a high resistance condition was found and repaired, go to step 16 . If an open or a high resistance was not found, go to step 13 .
- Check position sensor harness connector for a poor connection. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step 16 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step 14 .
- Check control module harness connector for a poor connection. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step 16 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step 15 .
- Replace suspect position sensor. See CVRSS POSITION SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. When replacement is complete, go to step 16 .
- Replace control module. See ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Calibrate NEW control module. See CALIBRATING ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS. If replacement is complete, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle under normal driving conditions. If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
