Installation Procedure

- Install the oil level sensor to the oil pan. Refer to Engine Oil Level Sensor Replacement .
- Clean the sealing surfaces.
- Ensure that the oil pan and the sealing surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris.
- Apply a 2 mm (0.079 in) bead of suitable sealant (1) around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening. DO NOT over apply the sealant. More than a 2 mm (0.079 in) bead is not required.
- Install the oil pan (1).
- Install 14 short oil pan bolts (2) and tighten loosely.
- Install the long oil pan bolt (3) and tighten loosely.
- Install the 4 gear box bolts (1) and loosely tighten.
- Tighten the oil pan bolts in a sequence as shown in the graphic above to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the 4 gear box bolts (1) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
- Connect the oil level sensor wiring harness plug (2) to the oil level sensor (1).
- Install the catalytic converter brace. Refer to Catalytic Converter Brace Replacement (2.0L LHU) .
- Install the A/C compressor bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement .
- If equipped, install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Lower the engine deep as necessary to install the engine mount.
- Install the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
- Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
- Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .
- Fill up the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
- Recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
NOTE:
The complete installation procedure of the lower oil pan should be done in 10 minutes. Do not coat sealing compound on the oil pan bolt bores and threads.
