Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the oil level sensor to the oil pan. Refer to Engine Oil Level Sensor Replacement .
  2. Clean the sealing surfaces.

    NOTE:

    The complete installation procedure of the lower oil pan should be done in 10 minutes. Do not coat sealing compound on the oil pan bolt bores and threads.

  4. Ensure that the oil pan and the sealing surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris.
  5. Apply a 2 mm (0.079 in) bead of suitable sealant (1) around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening. DO NOT over apply the sealant. More than a 2 mm (0.079 in) bead is not required.

  7. Install the oil pan (1).
  8. Install 14 short oil pan bolts (2) and tighten loosely.
  9. Install the long oil pan bolt (3) and tighten loosely.

  11. Install the 4 gear box bolts (1) and loosely tighten.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  13. Tighten the oil pan bolts in a sequence as shown in the graphic above to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  15. Tighten the 4 gear box bolts (1) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).

  17. Connect the oil level sensor wiring harness plug (2) to the oil level sensor (1).
  18. Install the catalytic converter brace. Refer to Catalytic Converter Brace Replacement (2.0L LHU) .
  19. Install the A/C compressor bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement .
  20. If equipped, install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
  21. Lower the vehicle.
  22. Lower the engine deep as necessary to install the engine mount.
  23. Install the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  24. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  25. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .
  26. Fill up the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  27. Recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
