Removing the tension cables

Precondition
- Battery charger connected.
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE SEAL FOR THE WINDSHIELD PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE SEAL FOR THE CONVERTIBLE TOP BRACE .
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
CAUTION:
Folding up of convertible top through loss of pressure in hydraulic cylinders.

- When carrying out all repair work, secure soft top and soft top compartment lid with a suitable support tool against collapsing. Ensure soft top is supported in the middle.
- Bring the convertible top (1) in the half opened position.
Secure the convertible top (1) from collapsing by using the support 2 452 010 if necessary.
- Carefully release the adhesive tape (1) to the left and right from the convertible top bow (2).
Make sure that the convertible top fabric is not damaged when removing!
- Release the convertible top fabric (1) in arrow direction from the convertible top bow and fold it up.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Release adhesive tape (1).
- Remove retaining clip (1).
- Detach tension cable (2).
- Feed out the convertible top fabric (1) on the convertible top bow (2) and fold it upwards in arrow direction.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Detach the convertible top fabric (1) at the retaining tabs (2) and feed it out in arrow direction.
- Guide out retaining strap (1) from convertible top fabric (2).
- Fold convertible top fabric (1) upwards.
- Feed out the retaining strap (2) from the convertible top linkage (3).
- Release the retaining clip (1).
- Feed out the bolt (2) together with the tension cable (3) and remove it.
