Removing the radial shaft seal for the gearshift shaft

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When the engine is stopped after the completion of trip, it may be necessary to run the electric fan. In rare cases, operation of the electric fan can last up to 11 min. This protects the components. In this case, replacing the electric fan will not remedy the problem!

Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE CONNECTING SUPPORT FROM THE TUNNEL .
- Refer to REMOVING EXHAUST SYSTEM .
- Refer to REMOVING TRANSMISSION CROSS-MEMBER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE TANK COVER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LEFT THRUST FIELD .
- Refer to REMOVING THE REAR HEAT SHIELD .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT HEAT SHIELD .
- Refer to PARTIALLY LOOSENING THE PROP SHAFT .
- Unlock the locks (1) in arrow direction.
- Pull out the bearing journal (2) in arrow direction and release the gearshift arm (3).
- Detach retaining clip (2).
- Pull the gearshift rod (1) out of the gearshift rod joint (3) in arrow direction.
- Lift spring circlip (3) from groove and shift slightly.
- Push the cylindrical pin (1) out of the gearshift rod joint (2).
- Remove the gearshift rod joint (2) in arrow direction.
- Screw in the special tool 2 219 637 until it is firmly combined with the radial shaft seal (1).
- Pull out the radial shaft seal (1) with the special tool 2 219 637 .
