- Before working on the airbag, disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

- Start charging process.
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
With the ignition off and the high-voltage safety plug disconnected, the Check Control message "High voltage system faulty" is displayed by default.
The message "High-voltage system switched off" (absence of voltage) is only displayed when the ignition is switched on.

- Release the screw (1) from below.
- Detach steering column shroud lower section (2)
to the front in the arrow direction.
- Tilt the steering column trim lower part downwards.
- Unlock and disconnect the plug connections (1)
and (2)
.
- Unclip line (1) (see arrows).
- Unclip the gap cover (2) from the steering column shroud lower section (see arrows) and remove the steering column shroud lower section.
