Replace the front door trim panel
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE SOUND INSULATION ON THE FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE CONTROL UNIT FOR THE ADDITIONAL SEAT FUNCTION .
- Refer to REMOVING THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE .
- Refer to REMOVING THE SWITCH FOR TAILGATE RELEASE .
- Refer to REMOVING THE CENTRAL LOCKING SWITCH .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT FOLDING COMPARTMENT LED MODULE .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LED MODULE OF THE FRONT DOOR HANDLE .
- Refer to REMOVING THE DECORATIVE STRIP ON THE DOOR TRIM PANEL .
- Remove the wiring harness (1).
- Replace the front door trim panel.
Parts: Door, finisher panel, front
- Install wiring harness (1).
- Punching the contour of the switch for the tailgate release
- Disassemble special tool 2 444 402.
- Pre-drill the marked bores (1) and (2) with a small drill of special tool 2 444 402.
- Drill holes precisely.
- Drill out the medium bore (2) with the large drill of the special tool 2 444 402.
- Guide in the lower section (1) of special tool 2 444 402 from above through the bores of the door trim panel.
- Insert screw (2) of special tool 2 444 402 as shown.
- Put together special tool 2 444 402 as shown.
- Align the special tool 2 444 402 and turn the nut (3) clockwise to press together.
- Release nut (3) after cutting through the door trim panel.
- Remove special tool 2 444 402.
- Press out the punching residue from the special tool 2 444 402
using the pressing tool.
