Installing the airbag control unit

- Before performing any work on the airbag, always disconnect the battery ground lead from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

- Leave the electrical components in their original packaging until they are being installed. Only use the original packaging for returning the product. Always package removed components straight away.
- Read and comply with user information on using the associated special tool 12 7 060.
- Only tap the housings of electrical components. Do not tap pins or multi-pin connectors directly.
- Wear electrically conductive clothing and antistatic shoes (with ESD symbol).

- Position airbag control unit (3) correctly.
- Tighten nuts (2).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Airbag control unit to body screw Tightening torque 8 Nm - Connect connectors (1) and lock.
Attaching the drip protection for airbag control unit
- Place the adhesive strip (1) on the edge of the control unit (2) as shown and stick it without any creases.
Turn the adhesive strip (1) over on the dotted lines and stick it on the sides of the control unit (2).
The adhesive strip (1) is used as drip protection an must cover the plug connection of the control unit (2) completely .
