Installing The Upper Part Of The Trunk Lid

• Position the new trunk lid on the tailgate hinges.

  Make sure that the spindle driver is not damaged.

  Make sure that the striker is not engaged in the trunk lid lock. If necessary, cover the trunk lid lock.

• Tighten down screws (1).
  TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
  
  

  Upper section of tailgate on hinge
  Hexagon screw M8
  	tightening torque  19 Nm

  CAUTION: Shutting hood or trunk lid.
  Injury hazard!

  • Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.
  NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
  Damage to the spindle drive.
  If the trunk lid is not opened completely, the spindle drive may be damaged.

  • Remove and install the spindle drive only when the Trunk lid is open to the maximum extent.

  NOTE: Perform the steps on the right and left side.
• Open trunk lid.
• Position the spindle drive (1) with the ball socket (2) on the ball-headed pin and drive it home by force.

  Check the clamp (3) is fitted correctly.

• Feed the wiring harness into the tailgate frame.
• Mount the rubber grommet (1).

  Check the rubber grommet for the correct installation position, (watertightness).

• Fasten vehicle wiring harness at marked locations (arrows).

• Connect all plug connectors (arrowed) of the wiring harness.

• Feed the wiring harness into the trunk lid  .
• Mount the rubber grommet (2).

  Check the rubber grommet for the correct installation position, (watertightness).

• Fasten vehicle wiring harness at marked locations (arrows).
• Connect the plug connection (1).

• Feed rubber grommets through outwards together with wiring harness,
• Fasten vehicle wiring harness at marked locations (arrows).
• Connect plug connections (1).

• Mount the rubber grommets (2).

  Check the rubber grommets for the correct installation position, (watertightness).

• Connect plug connections (1).
• Secure the wiring harness and hose at the marked points (arrowed).
