Installing complete convertible top
CAUTION:

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Lift convertible top (1) with the lifting equipment (2) and the workshop crane (3) into the vehicle.
- Position the convertible top (1) in the vehicle with a support person.
- Prepare the components for the correct threaded connection of the convertible top.
- Lock nut
- Washer
- Barrel screw
- Adjustment nut
- Convertible top main bearing
NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side. - Check if barrel screws (1) are adjusted to the previously noted dimension (x); if necessary, adjust dimension (x) .
- When replacing the barrel screw: Adjust the barrel screw (1) with the special tool 0 496 042 (54 0 180)

- Adjust the distance between the mounting plate and the convertible top main bearing to the previously noted dimension.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Replace nuts (1).
Parts: Nuts
- Position the washers and turn nuts (1) until hand-tight.
It must still be possible to move the convertible top a little.
NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side. - Release adhesive tape (2) from the hydraulic cylinder for convertible top compartment lid (1) and hydraulic lines (3).
- Place the hydraulic unit (1) down carefully on a base surface (2) on the trunk lid.
- Manually close the convertible top.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Position and clip in the hydraulic cylinder for convertible top compartment lid (2).
- Ensure that retaining clip (1) snaps in correctly.
- Clip in all hydraulic lines (1).
Installing the hydraulic cylinder for the trunk lid
Precondition
Trunk lid is open.
- Feed in the hydraulic lines (1) and position.
- Feed in the cable grommet (3) and position.
- Secure the hydraulic lines (1) to the cable bracket (2).
- Place the cable grommet (1) in the position shown.
- Check that the retaining clips (1) on the hydraulic cylinder (2) are fitted correctly.
- Clip the hydraulic cylinder (2) into place on the corresponding ball-hubs.
- Connect the hydraulic lines (2) and lock.
- Connect plug (1).
Connecting the hydraulic line
- Protect the working area from escaping hydraulic fluid.
- Connect the hydraulic lines (1).
- Make sure the retaining clip (2) engages correctly.
- Place the hydraulic unit in the luggage compartment.
- Clip the hydraulic lines (1) on to the brackets (2).
- Release cable tie (1).
- Remove the hydraulic unit from the sound insulation (2).
Check
- Protect the working area from escaping hydraulic fluid.
- Place the hydraulic unit (1) horizontally in the trunk,
- Open and close convertible top at least 2 times.
- With the convertible top closed, check if the oil level Is within the mark (2).
Result
» Oil level is outside the mark (2).
Measure
- Release the screw (3) and correct the oil level,
- Insert the hydraulic unit into sound insulation (2).
- Secure cable tie (1).
- Feed in hydraulic unit (2) and position it.
- Feed in foam backing (1) and position it.
- Insert existing connectors on the control unit (1) and lock them.
- Feed in control unit (1) and position it.
- Connect connectors (2) and lock.
- Feed in foam backing (2) and position it.
- Insert control unit (1) in foam cushion (2).
- Insert control unit (1) in foam cushion (2).
