- Before performing any work on the airbag, always disconnect the battery ground lead from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

Preliminary work
- Refer to PREPARING THE SPECIAL TOOL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE OUTER FRONT WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP .
- Refer to RELEASING THE FRONT DOOR WINDOW GLASS .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT MODULE BRACKET .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT DOOR WINDOW GLASS .
- Refer to PARTIALLY RELEASING REAR INNER WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE .
- Refer to REMOVING DOOR LOCK .
- Release decoupling elements (1) from adapter plate (2) and remove Automatic Soft Close drive (3).
- Loosen cover (1) on locks (2).
- Remove the cover (1).
- Detach Bowden cable (1) from door lock (2).
- Remove the soft-close motor (3).
