Replacing the rubber mounts for the rear axle final drive suspension at rear

Special tools required:

NOTE: Do not press the rubber mount in and out more than once.
For vehicles up to 07/18, the rubber mount with the BMW part number 7 852 495 is to be installed in connection with the rear axle support 2 284 640. Only the rubber mount with BMW part number 7 852 495 may be used for vehicles up to 07/16.
For vehicles from 07/2018, the polyurethane rubber mount with the BMW part number 8 094 690 is to be installed in connection with the rear axle support with the BMW part number 8 097 478. The polyurethane rubber mount with BMW part number 8 094 690 is used as a replacement from 07/16.
Before removing and installing the rubber mount, check which variant is or will be installed!

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove REAR AXLE FINAL DRIVE .
Lower REAR AXLE SUPPORT .

Determine the variant of the rubber mount (1).

Variant (A): Rubber mount with elongated hole (2) (BMW part number 7 852 495)
Variant (B): Polyurethane rubber mount (BMW part number 8 094 690)

Removal of rubber mounts with elongated hole (variant A)

Pull out rubber mount using special tools 33 0 035, 33 0 036, 361 902, and 33 4 183 from rear axle support (1).

Installation of rubber mounts with elongated hole (variant A)

Arrows of the labelling "TOP" must point upwards.

CAUTION: Coat bearing bush on rear axle support and new rubber mount (1) with Circolight.

Draw in the rubber mount (1) with special tools 33 0 035, 33 0 036, 2 361 902 and 2 361 908 up to the limit position.

Removal of polyurethane rubber mounts (variant B)

Pull out the rubber mounts with the special tools 2 475 367_1, 2 475 367_2, 2 475 367_3 and 0 494 982, 0 494 981 from the rear axle support (1).

Installation of polyurethane rubber mounts (variant B)

Installation note:

Observe direction of installation!

Protrusion (1) must point forwards in the direction of travel (F).

Install the REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL .
