Base suspension setting road setup (M4 GTS only)
Attention!
The chassis and suspension setting must always be performed in NORMAL POSITION !
Observe TEST CONDITIONS for wheel alignment.
The setting of ride height on the front axle must be performed only in the rebounded status. Adjust the ride height on the rear axle only when the coil spring is removed.
After adjusting the ride height, set vehicle on wheels, move back and forth approx. 3-5 m. (to release vehicle tension), CHECK RIDE HEIGHT and if necessary adjust again!
Basic procedure:
- Adjust vehicle to ride height "street setup"
- Refer to TECHNICAL DATA
- Check toe and camber values, adjust if necessary
- Refer to TECHNICAL DATA
- Adjust DAMPING ACTION (rebound and compression stage) on front axle and rear axle.
Move vehicle into NORMAL POSITION .
Measure the vehicle ride height (A):
Attach tape measure to rim flange (2) at the bottom center and measure to wheel arch lower edge (1).
Adjust vehicle ride height on the front axle:
Front axle ride height: 624 mm +/- 2 mm
Slacken set screw (1). Twist spring cup (2) with hook wrench from tool kit till nominal ride-level height is reached. Tighten set screw (1).
Mount C clip (2) on limit position of spring cup (1).
Mount stop ring (3) on C clip limit position (2) and tighten shear screw (4) till it snaps.
Adjust vehicle ride height on the rear axle:
Rear axle ride height: 631 mm +/- 2 mm
Prestress coil spring with spring compressor. See REMOVE COIL SPRING .
Twist spring cup (1) till the nominal ride-level height is reached.
Mount C clip (1) on limit position of spring cup.
Mount stop ring (2) on limit position of C clip (1).
Tighten set screw (3) on stop ring (2) till it breaks away.
- Check toe and camber values, perform wheel alignment if necessary.
- Refer to TECHNICAL DATA
- Adjust damping action (rebound and compression stage)
