Rebound and compression damping setting shock absorber (M4 GTS only)

NOTE: The setting of the compression stage exerts significant influence on handling and driveability.
  • With a harder compression stage setting on the front axle, the vehicle becomes more precise in steering or more aggressive in steering. A soft setting of the compression stage brings forward a more forgiving driveability.
  • A harder compression stage on the rear axle makes the vehicle more stable when changing directions or creates a tendency for oversteering. In contrast to this, a soft compression stage allows the rear to participate more in steering.
  • Too much compression stage causes an uncomfortable roll off and reduces adhesion.

The rebound setting has a direct influence on the working speed of the piston rod during the swing-out of the suspension spring in the rebound process.
  • Low rebound forces improves the ride comfort during a slower journey, yet with according setting reduces the stability and turning precision during faster journeying!
  • High rebound forces again improve the handling on the front axle. This makes the driveability more secure in general.

    However, the tire adhesion can be potentially reduced as a result! The ride comfort will be greatly reduced.

Attention! 

The knurled wheel operates a precision valve. The end of the adjustment range must not, under any circumstance, be exceeded, otherwise the setting mechanics can become damaged.

Never combine rebound and compression stages in such a way that one axle is completely hard and the other soft, this leads to adversely affected driving stability and can thereby lead to accidents!

NOTE: Adjusting the rebound: 
The setting is performed starting from the closed state (maximum hard) in direction soft. The closed status is reached when the knurled wheel is turned clockwise (+) in direction of hard up to the limit position (number 0 on the knurled wheel). The effective adjustment range is 0-16 effective clicks in direction of soft. If the wheel is turned counter clockwise (- opening), the rebound damping becomes softer.

NOTE: Adjust compression stage: 
The compression stage setting takes place on the bottom end of the evacuated front and rear valve with the help of two knurled wheels, which are marked with "Low-Speed" and "High-Speed". Both speed ranges can be separately adjusted. The setting is performed starting from the closed state (maximum hard) in direction soft. The closed status is reached when the knurled wheel is turned clockwise (+) in direction of hard up to the limit position l. If the wheel is turned counter clockwise (-), the compression stage damping becomes softer.
Low-Speed/High-Speed compression stage: 
The Low-Speed range of the compression stage influences the strength of the damping action during the compress during low piston rod speeds (maximum 0.2 m/sec). The HighSpeed compression stage pertains to all the faster speeds of the damper piston rod.

Adjust front axle compression stage: 

Adjust the compression stage by turning the adjusting screw on the damper underside.

High-Speed compression stage  : Adjusting screw (1)

Low-Speed compression stage  : Adjusting screw (2)

Adjust the compression stage by turning the adjusting screw on the damper underside.

High-Speed compression stage  : Adjusting screw (1)

Low-Speed compression stage  : Adjusting screw (2)
