Completely removing and installing front spring strut (VDC) on left or right

Installation note: 

1. All screws, nuts, bolts and hose clamps removed during the repair must be replaced.
2. Retaining elements on chassis and suspension and steering parts must be replaced.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove TENSION STRUT ON SPRING STRUT DOME .
• Remove FRONT WHEEL .
• Remove FRONT BRAKE DISC .
• Remove ANTI-ROLL BAR LINK FROM SPRING STRUT .
• Disconnect plug connection for pulse sensor and expose cable up to holder on spring strut.
• Disconnect plug connection for brake pad wear sensor and expose cable up to brake caliper.
• Release brake hose from holder on spring strut.

Slacken nut (2).

• If necessary, hold up at the Torx socket.

Release track rod end (1) from swivel bearing.

Unscrew nut (3).

• If necessary, hold up at the Torx socket.

Release tension strut (4) from swivel bearing.

Slacken nut (5).

• If necessary, hold up at the Torx socket.

Release wishbone (6) from swivel bearing.

Release connector (1) from the wheel speed accelerator sensor (2).

Release cable from spring strut.

Installation:

Check sealing washer (1) on reinforcement ring and replace if necessary.

Check sealing washer (1) for damage and replace if necessary.

Clean inside contact surface at spring strut dome.

Align spring strut to the bores in the spring strut dome using the centering pins.

Mount reinforcement ring (2).

Part:  Replace screws (1).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 31 31 1AZ .

Part:  Replace nuts (2, 3 and 5).

Join track rod end (1) to swivel bearing.

Tighten nut (2).

• If necessary, hold up at the Torx socket.

Tightening torque 32 21 3AZ .

Join tension strut (4) to swivel bearing.

Tighten nut (3).

• If necessary, hold up at the Torx socket.

Tightening torque 31 12 2AZ .

Join wishbone (6) to swivel bearing.

Tighten nut (5).

• If necessary, hold up at the Torx socket.

Tightening torque 31 12 4AZ .

Connect connector (1) on the wheel speed accelerator sensor (2) and lock.

Secure cable on spring strut.

Required follow-up work: 

• Connect plug connection for pulse sensor and secure cable.
• Connect plug connection for brake pad wear sensor and secure cable.
• Secure brake hose on holder on spring strut.
• Mount ANTI-ROLL BAR LINK ON SPRING STRUT .
• Install FRONT BRAKE DISC .
• Install FRONT WHEEL .
• Install TENSION STRUT ON SPRING STRUT DOME .
• Carry out wheel alignment procedure. Refer to CARRY OUT KINEMATICS DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or KINEMATICS DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT LOADING THE VEHICLE .
