Replacing coolant temperature sensor (S55 engine)
WARNING:
Risk of burning!
Carry out this repair only when the engine has cooled down.
Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Attention!
Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) .
Necessary preliminary work:
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove IGNITION COIL COVER .
Unlock plug connection (1) and pull off.
Release and remove coolant temperature sensor (2).
Preparation for installation:
Check sealing ring of coolant temperature sensor and replace if necessary.
Installation:
Install and tighten coolant temperature sensor (2).
Tightening torque 13 62 5AZ .
Attach connector (1).
Connector (1) must engage audibly.
Required reworking:
- Install the IGNITION COIL COVER .
- Check coolant level and top up coolant if necessary.
