11 23 010 Removing and installing/replacing vibration damper (B48B)

Special tools required: 

• 11 6 130 

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove DRIVE BELT FOR ALTERNATOR 
• Remove STARTER MOTOR

Removal: 

Position special tool 11 6 130  and secure to timing case cover with screw (1).

Slide counter support with the screw (2) upwards until the teeth (3) engage completely in the flywheel gearing.

Tighten screw (2).

Release cover (1) from the vibration damper with a screwdriver.

Slacken all screws on the vibration damper (1).

Remove vibration damper (1).

Replace CRANKSHAFT SEALING RING .

Installation: 

Coat the sealing surface on the vibration damper with clean engine oil.

Position vibration damper (1).

Tighten down all screws.

Tightening torque 11 23 1AZ .

Install cover (1) in the vibration damper.

Release screw (2).

Loosen counter support on flywheel gearing.

Release screw (1) and remove special tool 11 6 130  ).

Attention! 

Do not run engine without ribbed drive belt.

Risk of damage  on vibration damper.

Required reworking: 

• Install STARTER MOTOR
• Install DRIVE BELT FOR ALTERNATOR
