11 12 729 Checking cylinder head for water leaks (B48B)

Special tools required:

2 361 215
2 410 136

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove CYLINDER HEAD .
Remove ALL HYDRAULIC VALVE CLEARANCE COMPENSATING ELEMENTS .
Remove ECCENTRIC SHAFT .
Remove EXHAUST TURBOCHARGER .

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 11 62 1AZ .

Remove clamping strip (2).

Position cylinder head (1) on special tool 2 361 215 and secure to 35 Nm .

NOTE: Assemble the special tool 2 361 215 in such a way that all water ducts on the cylinder head are sealed.

Disassemble connecting branch (1).

Attach special tool 2 410 136 to cylinder head and secure.

NOTE: Compressed air at special tool 2 410 136 maximum 3 bar .
Heat cylinder head to 60°.
Visual inspection in a water bath.

Required follow-up work:

INSTALL ALL HYDRAULIC VALVE CLEARANCE COMPENSATING ELEMENTS
Install ECCENTRIC SHAFT
Installing the CYLINDER HEAD
Mount EXHAUST TURBOCHARGER .
