11 37 005 Removing and installing/replacing eccentric shaft (B48B)

Special tools required:

11 4 480

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Removal:

Release screws (1).

Set down the bearing cap neatly in special tool 11 4 480 .

Release all screws (2) evenly.

Set down all bearing supports neatly in special tool 11 4 480 .

NOTE: All bearing supports must be reinstalled in the same positions in an engine which has already been in use.

Remove intermediate shaft (1) from cylinder head.

Installation:

Check all needle bearings (1) of eccentric shaft (2) for ease of movement.

IMPORTANT: If one or more needle bearings are faulty, the complete eccentric shaft must be replaced.

NOTE: Ensure correct installation of the guide bushes (1).
Guide bushes (1) must not be damaged.

Clean all bearing positions (1) and coat with engine oil.

Before assembly of the eccentric shaft move the needle bearing (1) in the direction of the arrow up to the limit position.

Oil the needle bearings of eccentric shaft (1).

Mount eccentric shaft on cylinder head.

Mount bearing shell (2) and bearing supports (3) on cylinder head.

The bearing cap (1) is provided with a limit position.

Tighten all screws (1 and 2) evenly.

Tightening torque 11 37 3AZ .

INSTALLING SERVOMOTOR FOR ECCENTRIC SHAFT .
Install INTAKE CAMSHAFT
Install INTERMEDIATE LEVER
