32 31 082 Removing and installing/replacing steering angle sensor (X6 2015-2019)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove airbag unit. Refer to 32 34 030 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING AIRBAG UNIT (SPORT STEERING WHEEL) REP-REP-RAF1532-3234030 - V.3 (X6 2015-2019) .
• Remove steering wheel. Refer to 32 33 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STEERING WHEEL REP-REP-RAF1532-3233000 - V.4 (X6 2015-2019) .
• Remove upper and lower steering column shroud. Refer to 32 31 003 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING UPPER SECTION OF STEERING COLUMN SHROUD REP-REP-RAF1532-3231003 - V.5 (X6 2015-2019) .
• Remove STEERING WHEEL SWITCH CLUSTER .

Disconnect electrical connectors (1) on steering angle sensor.

Installation note: 

Make sure wiring harness is in correct position.

Unfasten the two catches (1) using a screwdriver and remove the steering angle sensor.

Installation note: 

Align steering angle sensor with steering column.

Align lug (1) on steering angle sensor with groove (2) in steering column and carefully slide steering angle sensor on.

After installation: 

• Replacement only: Carry out programming/encoding
• Carry out adjustment for active steering. Refer to 61 31 996 CARRYING OUT STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ADJUSTMENT REP-REP-RAF1532-3231584 - V.3 (X6 2015-2019) (steering angle sensor calibration is integrated in "Active Steering Adjustment")
