32 33 000 Removing and installing/replacing steering wheel (X6 2015-2019)

CAUTION: Move wheels into straight-ahead position and do not alter this position during the repair work.
Do not under any circumstances turn the steering column switch cluster when the steering wheel is removed.

NOTE: Wheel alignment is not necessary after the steering wheel has been removed and installed or replaced.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove airbag unit. Refer to 32 34 030 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING AIRBAG UNIT (SPORT STEERING WHEEL) REP-REP-RAF1532-3234030 - V.3 (X6 2015-2019) .

CAUTION: While releasing the screw (3), counter support the steering wheel with the help of a second person in order to reduce the torque on the steering column!

Move wheels/steering wheel into straight-ahead driving position.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

If necessary, disconnect plug connection (2) for steering wheel heating.

Release screw (3) and remove steering wheel (4).

Installation note:

Only on vehicles with microencapsulated screw: Clean thread in the steering column and replace screw!

Tightening torque 32 33 1AZ .

Make sure connecting line(s) is/are correctly laid.

NOTE: Only F25 vehicles:
There are clock springs installed with and without a mechanical anti-twist lock.
Clock spring without mechanical anti-twist lock:
(recognizable at the inspection glass for the mark of the neutral position)

Do not twist the clock spring
Check zero position of clock spring on steering column switch cluster
Neutral position is correct only when the green or yellow mark (1) is clearly visible

Installation note:

Version with steering wheel heating: Before fitting the steering wheel on steering column, ensure correct cable routing.

Align steering wheel by way of marking (1) to steering column marking (2) and attach.

Replacement:

Remount the MULTIFUNCTION STEERING WHEEL SWITCH .
If applicable, remount the STEERING WHEEL MODULE .
