Removing and installing/replacing feed line (S63 B44 T 2) (X6 M)

Special tools required: 

• 13 5 160

Wear safety goggles.

Wear protective gloves!

Attention! 

Adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness when carrying out repair work on the high-pressure fuel system! 

Introduced contaminants can cause malfunctions in the system! 

• Do not allow any dirt particles or foreign bodies to get into the system.
• Remove all traces of contamination before removing lines or separate components.
• Use only lint-free cloths.
• Seal all fuel system openings with protective caps or plugs.

Recycling: 

Fuel escapes when fuel lines are detached.

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel in a suitable container.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove LEFT CLEAN AIR PIPE  and RIGHT CLEAN AIR PIPE .

Removal: 

Release connector holder (1) from bracket and place to one side.

Slacken nut (1).

Place the vacuum reservoir (2) to one side.

Unlock and detach fuel line (1).

Seal fuel lines with special tool 13 5 160.

Loosen fuel delivery line (2) on high pressure pump.

Loosen screws (3).

Slacken nut (1).

Release nut at bottom of cover (2).

Remove positive battery cable from alternator and place to one side.

Loosen fuel delivery line (1) on high pressure pump.

Slacken nut (2).

Feed out and remove fuel feed line (2).

Installation:

Observe tightening sequence  .

1. Fit fuel feed line.

   In so doing, apply only hand-tight  force to tighten screw connections!

2. Tighten the fuel delivery line on the high pressure pumps (1). Tightening torque 13 53 4AZ .
3. Tighten the fuel delivery line on the cylinder head cover (2). Tightening torque 13 53 6AZ .
4. Tighten the retaining clips (3). Tightening torque 13 53 7AZ .

Connect the fuel line to the fuel delivery line. Fuel line must audibly engage.

Connect the positive battery cable to the alternator.

Tighten the nut on the positive battery cable.

Tightening torque 12 41 1AZ .

Reinstall cover (1) without fail risk of short circuiting!

Position the vacuum reservoir.

Tighten nut (1).

Tightening torque 11 65 6AZ .

Install the connector holder (1) on the bracket.

Required follow-up work: 

• Install LEFT CLEAN AIR PIPE  and RIGHT CLEAN AIR PIPE .
