Removing and installing/replacing upper oil sump section (S63T2) (X6 M)
Special tools required:
- 11 9 240
- 11 8 780
Necessary preliminary work:
- Drain ENGINE OIL .
- Secure engine in INSTALLATION POSITION .
- Lower FRONT AXLE
.
Remove FRONT AXLE DIFFERENTIAL .
- Remove LOWER OIL SUMP SECTION .
- Remove OIL PUMP .
- Release supply/return line on oil filter.
- Release holders of supply/return line on oil sump.
- Pull off connector from oil pressure switch.
- Unclip wiring harness on oil sump.
Release oil filter cover (1) with special tool 11 9 240.
Tightening torque 11 42 1AZ .

Loosen transmission end screw (1).
Attention: risk of damage to four-wheel drive oil sump .
Release screws in sequence 26 to 3.
Risk of damage!
For safety, hold the oil sump with a second person.
Release screws 1 and 2 and remove the oil sump.
Place a drop of SEALING COMPOUND 2.1 on all the separation points on the crankcase.
Installation note:
Special tool 11 8 780 is only necessary if transmission is removed.
Position special tool 11 8 780 with transmission bolts (1) so that the oil sump is lined up with the engine block.
Attach upper oil sump section.

Installation note:
Mount all screws in the sequence 1 to 26 with 27 Nm.
Retorque all the screws in the sequence 1 to 26 with 27 Nm.
Exchange screws 1 and 2 with a microencapsulated screw and fasten with 27 Nm .
On the transmission end, screw all the screws (1) with 5 Nm.
Installation note: Four-wheel drive
Mount all screws in the sequence 3 to 27 with 27 Nm.
Exchange screws 1 and 2 with a microencapsulated screw and fasten with 27 Nm .
Retorque all the screws in the sequence 1 to 27 with 27 Nm.
Secure all screws (1) to their corresponding tightening torque.
Tightening torque: 24 00 1AZ .
Assemble engine.
