Securing engine in installation position (S63) (X5 M)
Special tools required:

Owing to the new guidelines on pedestrian protection, side panels are no longer suitable for supporting the engine.
Observe following instructions relating to special tool:
- Prior to each use, check the special tools for defects, modifications and operational reliability.
- Damaged/modified special tools must not be used!
- No changes or modifications may be made to the special tools!
- Keep special tools dry, clean and free of grease.
- NUMBERING SYSTEM FOR SPECIAL TOOLS has been re-encoded.
Necessary preliminary work
- Disconnect negative BATTERY LEAD .
- Secure the ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID IN THE SERVICE POSITION .
- Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
Unclip hood/bonnet release cable (1) on the left side.
Carefully lever out clip (2 and 3).
Unclip cable clip (1) on the right side.
Assemble lifting beam 00 6 100 with special tools 00 6 080, 00 6 130, 2 318 635 and (position 1 = 00 6 040).
Rear legs of 00 6 040 must be replaced by 00 6 060.
Position lifting beam 00 6 100 with a 2nd person helping on designated areas (1, 2) on the left and right.
Attention!
Avoid an engine position change in the transverse or longitudinal direction!
Always make sure there is sufficient clearance between the engine (or its add-on parts) and the body.
Align lifting beam so that spindle is correctly above the lifting eye/towing hook.
Tighten all screws, nuts and connections on lifting member.
Attach chain to lifting eye (1).
Contact points, left.
Contact points, right.
Left engine mount:
Unscrew nut (1) from above.
Right engine mount:
Remove steering gear COVER at bottom right.
Loosen the nut (1) on the engine mount through the opening in the wheel arch.
Tightening torque 22 11 2AZ .
Raise engine approx. 10 mm with cross member.
