Cleaning intake port with walnut shell granulate (S63) (X5 M)
Special tools required:
- 2 302 630
- 2 356 969
- 2 356 970
- 2 410 269
Risk of engine damage.
The intake valves of the cylinder to be cleaned must be closed when cleaning the intake ports.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove the FRONT AXLE completely with the engine and transmission (Engine remains on table lift)
- Remove LEFT INTAKE PLENUM .
- Remove RIGHT INTAKE PLENUM .
- Remove SPARK PLUGS .
Turn the engine on the central bolt until cylinder 1 is in TDC position.
Prepare and fill the PEENER (81 29 2 208 034) with walnut shell granulate.
Main valve: (1).
Compressed air connection: (3).
Potential blasting sensors:
- 2 356 969 or
- 2 356 970
Screw together blasting wand (1) and actuator (2).
Connect the extraction adapter 2 410 269 to the vacuum cleaner and position it on the intake port of the first cylinder.
Both chambers must be cleaned.
Wear safety goggles.
Second person required to assist.
Blasting wand may only be pulled out until the mark becomes visible .
Switch on vacuum cleaner. Hold the extraction adapter (2) on the intake port of the first cylinder.
Open the main valve on the blasting tool and switch the vacuum cleaner on.
Insert the blasting sensor (1) into the extraction adapter (2).
Open the safety valve of the operation.
Wear safety goggles.
Slide locking lever (1) to the front in direction of arrow.
Operate compressed-air valve (2) at stage one; compressed air can now flow in.
Fully operate valve (3) at stage two; walnut shell granulate is now injected.
Swivel the blasting sensor to improve cleaning results.
Blasting wand may only be pulled out until the mark becomes visible .
After the cleaning operation, continue to operate the compressed-air valve (2) for approximately 10 s to agitate and draw off the remaining granulate.
Close the valve (1).
Assess the result. If necessary, repeat procedure.
Crank engine at central bolt.
Turn the remaining cylinders to TDC position using a TDC determination unit via the spark plug bore hole.
(For example special tool 2 302 630)
Clean the intake ports of the remaining cylinders as described above.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
After having cleaned all intake ports:
Crank motor at central bolt at least twice.
Required follow-up work:
- Install SPARK PLUGS .
- Install the INTAKE PLENUM ON THE RIGHT .
- Install the INTAKE PLENUM ON THE LEFT .
- Install the complete FRONT AXLE including engine and transmission
- Delete fault memory
