27 10 010 Removing and installing transfer case: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
IMPORTANT:

After completion of work, check GEARBOX OIL LEVEL  and top up if necessary.

Use only the APPROVED GEARBOX OIL . Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the transfer case!

Special tools required  :

Necessary preliminary tasks  :

Release screws (1).

Remove the heat shield.

Release screws (1).

Remove the transfer case.

IMPORTANT: If the intermediate shaft (1) catches on the transfer case, replace the intermediate shaft (1) and radial shaft seal in the AT or manually insert a new intermediate shaft on the output of the AT. See the following instructions.

If necessary, insert the intermediate shaft (1) onto the AT output and renew the radial shaft seal.

Evenly coat the inside of the output flange with approximately 5g grease.

Grease: Lubricating grease Optitemp HT 1 LF, part number 83 23 0 417 754

Install the transfer case.

Tighten screws (1).

Tightening torque 27 10 1AZ .

Install heat shield.

Tighten screws (1).

Tightening torque 27 10 2AZ .
