Removing and installing/replacing ICM control unit (4' Series Coupe/Convertible, 4' Series Gran Coupe Sedan)
IMPORTANT:
Read and comply with NOTES
on protection against damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD protection).
WARNING:
The sensor system for triggering the airbag is installed in the ICM control unit!
The battery must be disconnected before removing the ICM control unit (ICM control unit de-energized)!
There is a risk of the airbag being triggered inadvertently if this requirement is disregarded!
The battery must be disconnected before removing the ICM control unit (ICM control unit de-energized)!
There is a risk of the airbag being triggered inadvertently if this requirement is disregarded!
Necessary preliminary work:
- Disconnect NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE .
- Remove CENTER CONSOLE assy.
WARNING:
Make sure that the negative battery lead is disconnected!
There is a risk of the airbag being triggered inadvertently!
There is a risk of the airbag being triggered inadvertently!
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Release nuts (2) and remove ICM control unit (3).
Installation note:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque 34 51 2AZ .
IMPORTANT:
Do not trap any electrical wires when installing ICM control unit!
After removing and installing ICM control unit:
After completing repairs, use BMW Diagnosisand Information System, using an appropriate scan tool to
- Carry out ADJUSTMENT/START-UP of ICM control unit.
Replacement:
After completing repairs, use BMW Diagnosis/information system using an appropriate scan tool to
- Carry out PROGRAMMING/ENCODING
- Carry out ride height ADJUSTMENT .
- Carry out adjustment/start-up of ICM control unit
