17 00 008 Draining and topping up coolant
Only carry out repair work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
Attention!
Wear protective gloves and safety goggles.
Attention!
For contamination of the cooling system (e.g. by engine oil), the cooling system must be rinsed with water until all contamination is removed!
Attention!
Use APPROVED COOLANT only.
FOLLOW instructions for repair work on the cooling system.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove FAN COWL .
- Remove front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Draining coolant:
Unscrew the sealing cap (1) of the coolant expansion tank.
Unlock and detach coolant hose (1) from radiator at top.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
Unlock coolant hose (1) and pull off from coolant pump.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
Adding coolant:
Observe FILLING CAPACITIES.
Observe appropriate water/antifreeze mixture ratio.
BLEED AND TOP UP THE COOLING SYSTEM WITH VACUUM FILLING UNIT.
CHECK COOLING SYSTEM FOR TIGHTNESS.
Required follow-up work:
- Install FAN COWL .
- Install front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
