17 11 035 Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
When the engine is switched off after the end of the journey, it may be necessary to operate the electric fan. In rare cases, the electric fan may operate for up to 11 minutes. This serves the component protection. In this context, replacing the electric fan will not remedy the problem!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove CROSS CONNECTION .
Removal:
Remove sealing (1) from radiator.
Unlock and pull off connector (1) from fan cowl.
Unclip clips (2) from fan cowl and place cable to one side.
Unclip coolant hose (3) and unclip coolant ventilation line (3) from the fan cowl.
Release screws (1).
Unlock right lock (1) on fan cowl.
Unlock left lock (1) on fan cowl.
Feed out fan cowl (1) in direction of arrow and remove.
Installation:
Feed in fan cowl (1) in direction of arrow and install.
Lock right lock (1) on fan cowl.
Lock left lock (1) on fan cowl.
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 17 10 1AZ.
Connect connector (1) to fan cowl.
Connector (1) must engage audibly.
Connect clips (2) to fan cowl.
Connect coolant hose (3) and clip coolant ventilation line (3) onto the fan cowl.
Install sealing (1) on radiator.
Required follow-up work:
- Install CROSS CONNECTION .
