33 32 064 Removing and installing/replacing left or right swinging arm (M6)

Special tools required:

31 5 220

NOTE: If the swinging arm is detached from the integral link/wheel carrier or rear axle support, it is necessary after reinstallation to carry out a chassis/wheel alignment check.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove REAR WHEEL .
Remove REINFORCEMENT PLATE .

Left side only:

Slacken nut (1).

Tightening torque 37 14 5AZ .

Remove jointed rod (2) from swinging arm.

Release screw (1) on respective shock absorber (2).

Tightening torque 33 52 3AZ .

Release shock absorber (2) from wheel carrier (3).

Secure special tool 31 5 220 with wheel studs on drive flange.

Press wheel carrier a maximum of approx. 10 cm towards top.

Release nut (1) and remove eccentric washer.

Tightening torque 33 32 8AZ .

Pull out screw.

Release nut (2) and remove anti-roll bar link from swinging arm (3).

Tightening torque 33 55 2AZ .

Release nut (4) and remove screw.

Tightening torque 33 32 3AZ .

Release nut (5) and remove screw.

Tightening torque 33 32 4AZ .

Release nut (6) and remove screw.

Tightening torque 33 32 8AZ .

Installation note:

Tighten down screw connection in NORMAL POSITION .

Replace self-locking nut.

IMPORTANT: Loosen the screw connection swinging arm on rear axle support only with ring installation tool (1) and extension lever (2).
Release torque > 400 Nm

After installation:

Check output shaft for correct seating in rear axle final drive.
Carry out wheel alignment procedure . See 32 00 150 KDS CHASSIS/WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or 32 00 155 KDS WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .
