37 12 090 Removing and installing rear left or right spring strut - Vehicles with Electronic Damper Control (EDC), except M5

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release expanding rivet (1).

Disconnect the plug connection/connector (2) from the EDC damper.

Pull the storage shelf (3) outwards slightly to be able to pull out the EDC damper cable more easily.

Fold the sound insulation (1) to the side to reach the screws.

Undo the screws (2) with the reversible ratchet, extension, 7° flexible spanner head and size 13 hexagon spanner head.

Installation note: 

Replace nuts.

Tightening torque 33 52 1AZ .

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 33 52 3AZ .

Remove spring strut from wheel carrier.

Installation note: 

Replace screw.

Press wheel carrier (1) down.

First move spring strut (2) down slightly in direction of arrow in front of output shaft. Then swing down the spring strut (at the top of the wheel arch) and remove.

Installation note: 

IMPORTANT: Before tightening screw connection, check that spring strut shock absorber pin is correctly positioned in wheel carrier.
