33 10 030 Removing and installing/replacing oil sump on rear axle differential (220M)

IMPORTANT: Only liquid sealing compound may be used!
To prevent the final drive oil from foaming over, make sure that no remnants of the liquid sealing compound are pressed into the rear axle final drive housing.
After completing repair work, CHECK/TOP UP TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL .
Use only the approved transmission oil. Refer to OPERATING FLUIDS .
Failure to comply with this instruction will result in serious damage to the rear axle differential.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 33 17 5AZ .

Remove front adapter (2).

Installation note: 

Replace screws (1).

Release screws along the dotted line (1).

Tightening torque 33 11 9AZ .

Remove oil sump (2).

Clean sealing surface (1) on oil sump and rear axle differential.

If necessary, remove remnants of liquid sealing compound with scraper.

Installation note:

Installation note: 

Replacing oil sump:

Release temperature sensor (1) and screw in into new oil sump.

Tightening torque 33 11 6AZ .
