11 37 550 Removing and Installing/Replacing A Valvetronic Torsion Spring (N63O1)
Special Tools Required:
Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Remove The Engine with FRONT AXLE .
- Remove Cylinder Head Cover. See LEFT CYLINDER HEAD COVER or RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD COVER .
Safety Goggles and Protective Gloves Required.
Twist Engine At Central Bolt So That It Is Suitable for Dismantling.
Position Intake Camshaft (2) Horizontally (See Arrow In Illustration).
Set Intermediate Shaft (1) To Zero Lift (See Arrow In Illustration).
Release Screw of Torsion Spring.
Remove Special Tool 2 249 160 with Torsion Spring.
Clamp Special Tool 2 249 160 In Vice.
Operating Lever Must Be Pretensioned In Direction of Arrow So That Special Tool 2 249 160 Can Be Opened.
Relieve Tension On Special Tool 2 249 160 .
Remove Torsion Spring From Special Tool 2 249 160 and Place On Special Tool 11 4 480 In An Orderly Fashion.
Installation Note:
Engage Torsion Spring (1) On Special Tool 2 249 160 .
Insert Torsion Spring (1) On Special Tool 2 249 160 and Secure.
Attach Both Ends of Torsion Spring In The Rollers of Special Tool 2 249 160 .
Pretension Torsion Spring with Special Tool 2 249 160 .
Position Special Tool 2 249 160 with Torsion Spring On Cylinder Head.
Secure Torsion Spring.
Tightening torque: 11 37 3AZ .
Unlock Locking Button (1) On Special Tool 2 249 160 and Release In Direction of Arrow.
Remove Special Tool.
Assemble Engine.
