11 13 000 Removing and Installing, Sealing or Replacing Oil Sump (N55)

Special Tools Required:

11 8 780 .

IMPORTANT: Aluminum Screws/Bolts Are Permitted with and Without Color Coding (Blue).
Aluminum Screws/Bolts Must Be Replaced Each Time They Are Released .
for Reliable Identification:
Aluminum Screws/Bolts Are Not Magnetic .
Joining Torque and Angle of Rotation Must Be Observed Without Fail (Risk of Damage) .

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Lower FRONT AXLE .
Drain and Add ENGINE OIL .
Detach POWER STEERING PUMP and Set It Aside (Dynamic Drive Only).

Release Screws (1).

REMOVING LEFT ENGINE SUPPORT ARM .

Release Screws (1).

Release Screw (2).

Remove Holder (3) for Deflecting Element.

Unclip Electrical Lines (2) of Monitoring Sensors From Holder (3).

Disconnect Plug Connections (1) of Monitoring Sensors and Lay To One Side.

Release Bolts (5) On Gearbox.

Tightening torque 11 13 7AZ .

Lay Holder (3) To One Side.

Disconnect Plug Connection (4) On Oil Level Sensor.

Release Bolts Along Line (1).

If Necessary, Remove Oil Level Sensor.

Installation Note:

Screw (1) M8X92 Mm.

Screws (2) M8X112 Mm

Screws (3) M8X92 Mm

Installation Note:

Replacing All O-Rings and Seals (1).

Aluminum Screws (2) M8X92 Mm and M8X112 Mm.

Tightening torque 11 13 3 AZ .

Aluminum Screw (3) M8X50 Mm.

Tightening torque 11 13 4AZ .

Aluminum Screws (4) M8X26 Mm.

Tightening torque 11 13 2AZ .

Installation Note:

Special Tool 11 8 780 Is Only Required If Gear Is Not Installed As Mechanical Stop.

Secure Special Tool 11 8 780 with Two Bolts On Crankcase.

Installation Note:

Engine Removed:

Position Oil Sump (1) with No Gaps Until It Contacts Special Tool 11 8 780 .

Installation Note:

Engine Installed:

Position Oil Sump (1) with No Gaps Until It Contacts Gearbox Housing.

Bolt On Oil Sump (1).

Assemble Engine.

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

REMOVING LEFT CHARGE AIR DUCT .
Drain and Add ENGINE OIL .
Remove FRONT AXLE DIFFERENTIAL .
Remove BEARING SUPPORT .
Detach POWER STEERING PUMP and Set It Aside (Dynamic Drive Only).
Remove ENGINE SUPPORT ARM .
Detach Deflecting Element and Holder From Oil Sump.

NOTE: The Lines Must Be Detached From The Oil Sump On Vehicles with Automatic Transmission; If Necessary, Detach Oil Pump and Place To One Side.

Release Bolts (3) On Transmission.

Tightening torque 11 13 6AZ .

Detach Return Hose (2).

IMPORTANT: for Vehicles with All-Wheel Drive or Automatic Transmission, Bolts of Different Lengths Are Installed for Mounting The Oil Sump.
Observe Different Tightening Torques.

Release Bolts Along Line (1).

for Vehicles with All-Wheel Drive or Automatic Transmission:

Tightening torque 11 13 2 AND 3AZ .

Additionally for Vehicles with All-Wheel Drive:

Tightening torque 11 13 4AZ .

Installation Note:

Replace Aluminum Screws.

If Necessary, Release Nuts (4). Remove Oil Level Sensor.

Tightening torque 11 13 7AZ .

Installation Note:

Replace Sealing Ring.

IMPORTANT: There Must Be No Adhesive Residues In The Lower Crankcase Section Retaining Threads.
Clean Retaining Threads and Sealing Surfaces.

Installation Note:

Replace All Gaskets.

Assemble Engine.
