51 45 030 Removing and installing instrument panel trim

NOTE:
Observe the following instructions to facilitate removal of the instrument panel trim:
- Move seats back completely and lower
- Open convertible top
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove Center Console . See 51 16 200 Removing And Installing Storage Tray .
- Remove trim for roof pillar, front left and right. See 51 43 201 Removing And Installing Or Replacing Trim For Front Left Or Right Roof Pillar .
- Remove finisher on panel for instrument panel, right . See 51 16 222 Replacing Finisher On Right Instrument Panel Trim .
- Remove control panel for heater - A/C system . See 64 11 377 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) CONTROL PANEL FOR HEATER - A/C SYSTEM .
- If necessary, remove Central Information Display . See 65 50 055 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CENTRAL INFORMATION DISPLAY .
- Remove fixture for steering column stalks . See 61 31 005 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FIXTURE FOR STEERING COLUMN STALK .
- Remove instrument cluster . See 62 11 280 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
- Remove light switch unit . See 61 31 033 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LIGHT SWITCH UNIT .
- Remove footwell side trim panel on A-pillar, left . See 51 43 070 Removing And Installing/Replacing Side Trim Panel, Footwell, On A-Pillar, Left .
- Remove airbag module for driver's knee protection . See KNEE AIR BAG MODULES .
- Remove footwell side trim panel on A-pillar, right . See 51 43 075 Removing And Installing/Replacing Side Trim Panel, Footwell, On A-Pillar, Right .
- Remove airbag module on passenger side . See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE (PASSENGER-SIDE) .
Release screw (1) on support tube (2).
Release screw (1) on support tube (2).
Release screws (1) in area of passenger footwell.
Release screw (1) in area of middle air duct (2).
Release screws (1) in area of driver's footwell.
Unlock OBD socket connector (1) and unclip in direction of arrow.
Release nut (2) in area of left air duct.
Disconnect plug connection (1) on passenger airbag switch (2).
Release nut (3) in area of right air duct.
Pull back trim for instrument panel (1) and remove.
Installation:
Make sure guides (1) of instrument panel trim (2) are correctly seated in mountings.
